The Yamagata Antique & Folk Tools Flea Market is held on the first Sunday of every month within the grounds of the historic Suwa Shrine in Suwa-cho, Yamagata City, Yamagata Prefecture. Running from 8:00 a.m. to around 4:00 p.m., the market features around 20 vendors offering a charming array of items such as antique pottery, traditional folk tools, and vintage fabrics. While the event may be canceled in severe weather, it usually goes ahead in light rain.

The shrine’s tranquil atmosphere enhances the shopping experience, making it a popular destination for antique enthusiasts and visitors from both inside and outside the prefecture. Conveniently located about 5 minutes by bus or 10 minutes on foot from Yamagata Station, this flea market is a delightful place to discover hidden treasures in a serene setting.
